He earned a BS in Accounting from the University of Tennessee in 1974.( From 1996 to 1999, he served as President, CEO, and Chairman of Richfood Holdings, Inc., a regional Fortune 500 wholesale food distributor and operator of retail grocery stores, prior to its acquisition by SuperValu Inc.( Earlier roles included executive positions at Miller & Rhodes, Inc., where he was Owner, President, and CEO from 1986 to 1990.(
